The HCSB commends itself as a good translation, but I don’t know if it will have the kind of impact the NIV had.
Btw, have you guys noticed that the TNIV is gaining momentum despite the anti-campaigns against it?
I still prefer the TNIV over the HCSB.
It’s probably very premature to say that the CSB will not have an NIV-like impact on our society. That is the kind of judgment that only history will make. The unfortunate side of this is that we have an entire culture built around marketing rather than substance; therefore, even history will not be able to judge which translations were “the best,” but rather only which translations had the most impact.
Will, you’re so correct. But isn’t it interesting that after the last revision of the NIV in 1984 that by the 90s it became the bestselling Bible and still is?
Don’t get me wrong! I still think the CSB is a great Bible. I do favor it over the ESV.
Btw, Dr. Wallace of DTS favors the ESV over the CSB. I was somewhat baffled.
