Three Reasons the HCSB Will Dominate This Blog

[This is the last in a series of three posts about the issues that I intend to write about on this blog.]

big_hcsb1. The HCSB (Holman Christian Standard Bible) is an excellent translation. There are several good English translations available for the Church, but the HCSB is one of the best. Every American Christian should own a copy of the HCSB even if it is not their primary translation. The translators have an excellent way of conveying the message of the original to an audience thousands of years removed from that original.

2. The HCSB could use the publicity. I want to promote all good translations of the Bible, but especially one that has received very little publicity thus far despite its status as a great translation. B&H has struggled to get the word out about one of the finest English translations available. Thankfully, with Jedidiah Coppenger as the new Brand Manager for the HCSB, the translation could have some brighter days ahead.

3. The HCSB is a partner to other great translations. Let’s face it: we’re spoiled. We have more English translations of the Bible than we know what to do with. Not all of them, however, are worth having and reading. The HCSB is not the only great translation available, but I hope to help see the HCSB become a great partner to other excellent translations, so I intend to write about its strengths and help identify places where it can be better.
