Why Architecture Matters: An Interview with Paul Goldberger

goldbergerPaul Goldberger is a Pulitzer-prize winning architecture critic, and in his new book, Why Architecture Matters, he shows how the buildings around us shape our lives.

Today on NPR’s “On Point” program, Tom Ashbrook interviewed Paul Goldberger. It was a fascinating conversation, and one that I think everyone can benefit from.

  • Have you ever wondered why some churches “waste” so much money on beautiful buildings when they could just as easily meet in a warehouse?
  • Have you ever thought that buildings and architecture in general are valuable only to the extent that they serve a functional purpose?
  • Have you ever wondered what a community’s buildings say about that community?

Paul Goldberger discusses the cultural importance of architecture in a way that should make every Christian say, “Yes! That’s the image of God in man…whether you know it or not!”
