World’s Best Red Velvet Cake

redvelvetcakeHere’s something a little unusual for this blog: a recipe. I love to eat, and I love to cook. And I think that eating and drinking are gifts from God. See Ecclesiastes 2:24; 3:13; 5:18 for the Teacher’s perspective.

Cooking is also a form of culture, and cooking well is a way to image God by creating things in a very enjoyable, human way.

For Thanksgiving 2008 I made this red velvet cake, and it was amazingly delicious. This is culture creating at its most delectable. Although I will say it was incredibly tough to spread the icing without getting little red cake flecks in it.

My favorite thing about this recipe: It uses 2 whole ounces of red food coloring! That’s just cool. Be careful, though, because that red food coloring will stain stuff.
